Farewell, My Love

By Rhonda Fitzgerald-Hunter

The morning breaks, yet my heart stays in night,
Clinging to the echoes of your fading light.
Your scent still lingers, soft on the air,
A tender reminder that you’re no longer there.

Each step is heavy, my soul weighed with grief,
The loss too vast, no hope of relief.
Tears flow like rivers, hot and unrestrained,
Each drop a testament to love unfeigned.

In the quiet, I hear your laughter’s refrain,
A fleeting comfort, yet laced with pain.
Your gentle hands, now forever still,
Rest in peace, as fate fulfills.

Though the casket closes, our bond won’t sever,
For love like ours endures forever.
Sleep, my dearest, in eternal embrace,
Until we meet in a timeless place.
